The corporate governance document describes management and controlling principles at the highest level of the company. Swiss Estates AG values openness and transparency, especially with regard to treatment of shareholders and other stakeholders, and in terms of corporate governance, it is aligned with the "Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance" published by economiesuisse.

The "Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance" has served since 2002 as a guideline for corporate governance within Swiss companies, and it has made a significant contribution to Switzerland's leading international role in this area. Environmental changes have now lead to adjustment of the "Swiss Code of Best Practice for Corporate Governance" for a second time after an initial revision in 2007. Following a broad public consultation, the board of directors of economiesuisse approved the final version on 28 August 2014, and this became effective on 29 September, 2014.

The revised version includes new developments resulting on the basis of Article 95 Section 3 of the Swiss Federal Constitution. This highlights the concept of sustainable company success as a guiding beacon of sensible "Corporate Social Responsibility". This also plans adjustments for the fusion of the governing board (including women’s' representatives) and risk management (incl. compliance). For this purpose, the principle "comply or explain" will be introduced. Companies that deviate from the recommendations of the "Swiss Code" should explain why they have decided on other solutions.
